14th September 2006 Location: Maun, Botswana We are now in Botswana and the adventures have begun to accumulate. On the way to the border Phill’s suspension snapped. We were saved by a local farmer who had the part welded and ready go within the hour. Saving us many days of delays.

Chronicle blurpThe trip from Johannesburg north was the most adventurous yet. We were kindly welcomed onto the Fraain Veldt game farm by Luis De Vet, a green pepper baron who purchased the 4000 hectare property the day we arrived. It used to be for tourism so the accommodation and facilities were superb. From the game farm we traveled towards the Botswana border, along dirt roadways. Not 5km in Phill’s rear suspension broke. Luckily there was a farm nearby with a welder owned by a fitter and turner, Hannes De Presse. He had the suspension off and fixed in under 2 hours!
